"Test Drive" When my husband and I moved here from a small town in Michigan, we quickly realized that we would have to establish new doctors to replace those we had been treated by for so many years. We learned that most clinics do not have a process to meet healthcare physicians before filling out a mountain of paperwork and making an appointment for a clinic meeting that is then charged to the insurance company. Since arriving 16 years ago, we have gone through a multitude of doctors who seem to come and go. Each time we signed up with a new provider we did not meet the new doctor until after the pro-cess of becoming a new patient. Recently, a neighbor was informed about a new offering from our Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital that encouraged him to call for a unique appointment called “Test Drive Your New Healthcare Specialist.” He met his new family practice doctor and liked him so much that he filled out the forms and became a patient before he left the clinic. There was no charge for the initial meeting. A week ago, I decided to do the “Test Drive” and met with a very experienced Family Practice Provider. I felt so comfortable that I also signed up immediately. What a great concept! Additionally, our hospital is doing this fantastic program with all of their specialists. Each specialist has a clinic office at our hospital and there is a phone number as-signed to each provider to make the appointment of your choice. This is a new program that has not been advertised yet, but our hospital website has the information on the home page. I now realize that almost all of the medical services that I have needed are right here in the Green Valley/Sahuarita community. I no longer want to make the trips to Tucson if I can receive quality healthcare 10 minutes away.

I could go into great detail about my wife's recent experience starting with the Emergency Room
experience and ending with the successful removal of an infected gall bladder, but suffice it
to say that health problems she'd been suff ering from for about a year culminating in a very
painful event May 3 were resolved by the team at SCVRH.
Dr. Hubbard and his team worked through a protocol and determined the likelihood of a gall bladder
problem. The next day the diagnosis was confirmed. Dr. Gollapalli and his team prescribed
antibiotics as a first phase of therapy. By Weds, the pain had not subsided. The surgeon
determined that surgery would be required. That afternoon the gall bladder was removed. An
unpleasant after eff ect of the anesthetics and the pain from surgery were controlled by pain
management. By Thurs a.m. it was apparent to my wife that her pain from the gall bladder was
With the help of the attending staff she continued to recover and looked forward to a healthier future. I was pleased to have been in her room Tues - Fri as the team worked to solve the problem
and then post op as she improved. I witnessed a very caring, competent staff . What really came
across to me was #1 the positive attitude among the staff and #2 a willingness to help each other
with a variety of issues. The environment was positive, almost joyful. Whether dealing with an
unhappy, grumpy patient, or going about their business, the staff confidently handled whatever came up. I was impressed.
Room was great. Hospital is being well cared for. Greeters at the front desk seem happy to be
there. It's apparent that management is working hard to bring in a very competent staff . We were
especially impressed by how we were served in the ER, Dr. Gollapolli and his surgical staff and
the nursing staff. We are letting others know that you get high marks. Congratulations to you and
your staff for working hard to work out what has been a difficult climb out of some not so great
history. May your patient load grow and help support this very valuable community asset.
